Ann Hempel, PhD, ABPP-CN

Dr. Ann Hempel is a board-certified pediatric neuropsychologist specializing in cognitive and behavioral outcomes of pediatric epilepsy surgery. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, graduate training at Arizona State University, and postdoctoral fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Her professional interests include neuropsychological aspects of pediatric epilepsy, learning disabilities, and ADHD.


Doug Smith, MD

Dr. Douglas Smith is a pediatric epileptologist at MEG, with expertise in genetic epilepsy, neonatal epilepsy, metabolic and mitochondrial epilepsy, and gene therapy. He trained at New Jersey Medical School and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, offering specialized care for pediatric epilepsy patients.


Hallie Orton, MSW, LGSW

Hallie Orton is a pediatric social worker and psychotherapist at MEG. She completed her Bachelor of Social Work at North Central University and her Master of Social Work at St. Catherine University. Ms. Oeron's professional interests include treating functional neurologic disorders, non-epileptic events, trauma-informed care, anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, and panic disorder.


Heidi Currier, MD

Dr. Heidi Currier is a pediatric epileptologist at MEG. She completed her medical training at Creighton University, followed by residencies at the University of Massachusetts and Boston Medical Center, and an epilepsy fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s. Her interests include the ketogenic diet, epileptic encephalopathy, and epilepsy surgery.


Jessica Winslow, MD

Dr. Jessica Winslow is an adult epileptologist at MEG. She graduated from St Olaf College before training at Georgetown School of Medicine and Cleveland Clinic. Her expertise includes epilepsy surgery, patient education, and mental health in epilepsy. Dr. Winslow is dedicated to personalized care plans for her patients.


Julie Hanna, MD

Dr. Julie Hanna is an adult epileptologist with expertise in managing epilepsy and seizure disorders. Dr. Hanna completed her undergraduate studies at Indiana University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Bachelor of Arts in French. She then attended medical school at Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Hanna completed her neurology residency at University of Minnesota before completing her fellowship at both the University of Minnesota and Minnesota Epilepsy Group. Her interests include care of women with epilepsy and tuberous sclerosis complex.


Kinshuk Sahaya, MD, MBA

Dr. Kinshuk Sahaya is an adult epilepsy specialist at Minnesota Epilepsy Group. He completed his training at University of Delhi-India, University of Missouri-Columbia, University of Michigan. He holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management. Before joining MEG he was an academic faculty at University of Arkansas (UAMS). He is nationally recognized speaker and teacher within epilepsy and neurology. His professional interests include program development, medical education, complex epilepsy.


Kyle Nelson, MD

Dr. Kyle Nelson is a board-certified neurosurgeon at Metropolitan Neurosurgery, specializing in brain tumors, epilepsy, minimally invasive spine surgery, spinal and cranial trauma, vagal nerve stimulation, and deep brain stimulation. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul and received his M.D. from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 2008. Dr. Nelson completed his residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He is on the medical staff at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Mercy Hospital, Ridgeview Medical Center, and Unity Hospital.


Micaela Chatman, MD

Dr. Micaela Chatman specializes in intractable generalized epilepsies, non-epileptic events, and ICU monitoring. She completed her training at Harvard College, the University of Virginia, and Mayo Clinic. Dr. Chatman values patient involvement in care decisions, ensuring personalized and effective treatment plans for her patients.


Nitin Agarwal, MD

Dr. Nitin Agarwal is a pediatric epileptologist at MEG. He completed his medical education at University of Delhi-India, residency at the University of Buffalo, and a fellowship at Cleveland Clinic. His expertise includes epilepsy surgery, neuro-modulation, multimodality imaging, and the ketogenic diet. Featured among Top Doctors of MSPmag, Dr. Agarwal has been published in medical journals such as Pediatric Neurology, Epilepsy & Behavior, and Journal of Child Neurology.


Patricia Penovich, MD

Dr. Patricia Penovich is an expereienced epileptologist. She received her education and trainig from College of Wooster, Wooster, Ohio, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, University of Rochester, Rochester, NY, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN. Dr. Penovich is an examiner for The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and for The American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology. She is widely published and is an experienced presenter in the areas of clinical neurology, epilepsy, neuropharmacology, and women’s issues in epilepsy. She is a reviewer for several peer review medical journals.


Paul Atkinson, MD

Dr. Paul Atkinson is an adult epileptologist at MEG. He completed his medical training at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and his residency and fellowship at the University of Arizona. His areas of interest include epilepsy and epilepsy clinical trials. Dr. Atkinson has been published in journals including Seizure, US Neurological Disease, Proceedings of the National Academy of Science of the United States of America, Journal of Neurobiology, and Developmental Biology.


Robb Doss, PsyD, ABPP-CN

Dr. Robb Doss is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist at MEG. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, his graduate training at the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology, and his postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology at MEG. His professional interests include functional neuroimaging, magnetic source imaging, non-epileptic seizures, neuropsychological consequences of epilepsy/brain tumor treatment, and psychiatric aspects of epilepsy.


Stephanie Ahrens, DO

Dr. Stephanie Ahrens is a pediatric epilepsy neurologist who recently joined Minnesota Epilepsy Group from Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She completed education and training at St. Olaf College, Des Moines University College of Medicine and Nationwide Children’s Hospital/The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

Dr. Ahrens’ clinical areas of expertise and research interests include epilepsy surgery and intractable epilepsy management. She is well published in epilepsy surgery and epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) practice in the US. "


Suzanne Moseley, PhD

Dr. Suzanne Moseley specializes in adult neuropsychology and clinical psychology. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of California, San Diego, and her graduate training at the University of Arizona. Her interests include neuropsychology of epilepsy, pre- and post-surgical neuropsychological evaluation, epilepsy in older adults, and dementia.
